Between the Demeerbrug and the L28 park in Laken, a new pedestrian and cycling ramp is taking shape. Architects from BAUKUNST and Landinzicht are implementing a parabolic-shaped bridge as a connection between the bridge and the park, treating it as an architectural object.
The total developed length of the bridge is about 60 meters, with a span of 22 meters. The prestressed, cast-in-place concrete allows for a relatively small triangular section of the bridge deck. The bridge is supported by two steel supports on a symmetry axis: on one side, a double-hinged pendulum column, and on the other side, a support point that absorbs the thrust forces. Deflections in the bridge are kept limited thanks to a number of strategically placed 'adapted levels for deflection compensation' (50 mm) in the concrete formwork.
