UTIL cv, established in 2007, is an engineering office, specialized is structural studies for interesting architectural and art projects.

In close collaboration with designers, UTIL strives for strong and clear structural solutions close to the original concept of the project. The three founders, Frans Leenaerts, Pieter Ochelen and Rolf Vansteenwegen are educated as engineer-architects. With this background they care for good architecture. They organize the conceptual development of the structures that originates from interaction and conversation with the designer. UTIL tries to accommodate good architecture with clear structures, what distinguishes her from other engineering offices.

Through the years, UTIL assembled a motived team with strong technical knowledge that provides broad and specialized support for all kinds of projects. If required, UTIL can also invoke a network of external experts for advice . 

The projects scale varies from testing a table design to building projects of over 27.000 m2.

Currently UTIL employs one additional engineers and eight engineer-architects, who make technical calculations during tender-phase and care for the follow-up of the different construction-sites during execution-phase. A team of employees collaborators, who all have an architectural background, make the structural drawings.

UTIL is a Brussels based office. They manage projects throughout Belgium, occasionally in other European countries (France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland) and further (Shanghai).

UTIL makes structural studies for more than 150 different design offices, always looking for the best solution in dialogue with the designer.

Regularly, this approach is rewarded through the structural contribution in several winning projects in local, national or international architectural competitions.
