This is a design vision that always has a direct impact on the engineer’s approach: to blur the boundary between inside and outside as much as possible, and to eliminate as many vertically perceived obstructive lines along that boundary. Each project presents a unique challenge, depending on the context and the architectural concept. In this house, the opportunity arose with the bedrooms located above the open spaces. The rooms are conceived as a box, suspended between two concrete slabs. These concrete slabs are double-height, cantilevered towards the garden side of the building, and are otherwise integrated as seamlessly as possible into the overall architectural composition.
