Due to the limited availability of natural stone in large thicknesses, prefabricated elements were produced for this obelisk and subsequently stacked on site. In the workshop, several engraved marble plate elements were assembled mitre-jointed within a temporary formwork. The central cavity was then filled with low-shrinkage mortar. A void was provided at the centre of these prefabricated elements to allow the installation of the necessary starter bars, which connect the prefabricated elements to one another on site. A foundation footing measuring 3 m by 3 m with a thickness of 50 cm serves as a counterweight in the event of strong wind gusts.
