The views around the watersports course are dominated by the Sint-Pieterskerk, the water towers on the Kattenberg, the Belvedère Tower, and modernist high-rise buildings. The bridge integrates sustainably into the landscape through its composition. Its simple, clean line is positioned among the existing landmarks, aiming to enhance the existing scenography rather than drawing attention to itself with a grand gesture. The 85 m span is primarily achieved with two steel girders. The width of the flanges and the distance between the web plates increase toward the midspan, causing the profiles to curve slightly in the horizontal plane relative to their system line. The project is refined rather than simplistic. The design of the main girders is structurally optimized, but is equally refined in terms of functionality, spatial experience, and as a sculptural element within its surroundings.
